Do you like to spring clean? I remember seeking out a specific mop at my local big box store. The sales associate inquired what is was for, and when I explained it was for my spring ritual of washing walls she replied, “Why don't you paint over the dirt?” I was amused, because for me, heralding in the spring includes the ritual of washing my walls. My daughter likes to point out that I might be a dinosaur in my thinking, but I notice she’s started to spring clean herself - including wall washing. To me, painting over dirty walls does not make sense. The walls might look fresh, but sometimes those dirt stains start to show through the paint. They aren't really gone - they are just covered up. I enjoy the satisfaction of a fresh, dust free environment. I sleep better, feel more energized and feel happier. I love walking into my freshly spring cleaned home - the “energy” or the “vibe” feels different. Not everyone considers the energy of a home when they spring clean. Did you know that waves of energy constantly flow through your house? Even walls of cement, wood and plaster do not stop the energy from flowing. It comes into your house through the electrical services, electronic devices, and energy from people. It can also be attached to contents of your home.
And, all that energy coming and going from a home can leave an energetic residue behind. Our day to day living impacts the energy of the home as well. Think of a piece of furniture that has been handed down through generations. If the previous owner was cranky and negative, then the furniture is infused with that energy. Now personally, I strive to live a calm and peaceful life, but there are occasions when my interactions with my family are anything but! I might feel slightly irritated one day simply because my husband did not put cups in the dishwasher. Or, it could be a larger issue that results in a heated discussion. It might not be over the top, but the energy is not peaceful and I may express this irritation either through my verbal or body language. For those who live in a condo or apartment, you deal with the energy of not just your unit, but those beside, above and below you. The emotion, with its’ energy attached, moves into the atmosphere of the building looking for a matching vibration. When it finds one, it sticks just like a magnet. Imagine all the times we get upset, or argue - all those little waves of energy swirl around looking for somewhere to land. We may not see that energy, but just like the dirt under the painted walls, it will eventually come to the surface. Signs that your home may need an energy clearing: the environment of the home or business does not feel calm or relaxed family members are
Before I grab my favourite mop and bucket, I remove the toxic energy from my home - it’s just a natural part of my spring cleaning ritual! What about you? Do you clear the energy in your home as part of your spring cleaning routine? Comments are closed.
